Maher Nasser

Director, United Nations Department of Public Information, Outreach Division

Maher Nasser, from Palestine, has over 26 years of work experience in the United Nations System during which he has worked in various capacities in Gaza, Jerusalem, Vienna, Amman, New York, Cairo, back to Vienna and again back to New York.

Prior to assuming his current post as Director of the Outreach Division in the Department of Public Information in New York, Mr. Nasser was the Director of the United Nations Information Service in Vienna from July 2008 and Director of the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Cairo from January 2006.

Before joining DPI in 2006, Mr. Nasser was the Chief of the New York Liaison Office for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) from 2001. He also worked for UNRWA, in Vienna and Amman from 1996 to April 2001. From 1992 to 1994, Mr. Nasser worked as an Associate Information Officer for the United Nations Drug Control Programme in Vienna (now UNODC). Mr. Nasser also served as UNRWA's Public Information Officer and Spokesperson in Gaza and in Jerusalem from 1987 to 1991. Prior to joining the United Nations, he worked for two non-governmental organizations based in Jerusalem.

From October to December 1991, Mr. Nasser was the personal assistant to Dr. Haidar Abdul Shafi, the Head of the Palestinian Negotiating Team to the Madrid Middle East Peace Conference and subsequent bilateral negotiations in Washington, D.C. Mr. Nasser has a degree from Bir Zeit University in the West Bank, and a postgraduate diploma in business administration from the University of Warwick, in the United Kingdom.
From 1 April to 13 August 2012, he was Acting Head of the Department of Public Information.

Ryan started doing Model United Nations over 13 years ago as a freshman at Mission Viejo High School in Orange County, California. He attended Yale University, where he served as Secretary-General of the Security Council Simulation at Yale (SCSY), won awards with the MUN Team at Yale (MUNTY), and volunteered for the UNA-USA Global Classrooms MUN conferences in New York City and Los Angeles. After graduating in 2008 with a degree in political science, Ryan moved to New York City and joined Goldman Sachs at the height of the financial crisis, working as an analyst in the group responsible for liquidity, funding, and capital risk management (i.e. making sure Goldman did not go bankrupt).
Two years later, Ryan decided to leave Wall Street and start up Best Delegate.
Kevin Felix Chan (KFC)

Kevin - also known by his initials "KFC" - has attended nearly 100 Model UN conferences in the past 13 years. He served as Head Delegate for UCLA's Travel Team and as Secretary-General for UNA-USA's Global Classrooms conferences in New York and Los Angeles, UCLA's college conference, and Rowland High School's conference. Kevin's Model UN career highlight was introducing Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in the UN General Assembly Hall in front of 2,400 participants. Kevin received his bachelor's degree in political science from UCLA and earned certificates from Cornell University and Fudan University in China. He previously held management positions in marketing, operations, and sales for AT&T before leaving to work on Best Delegate full-time.
William Yotive

Mr. William Yotive is responsible for creating educational materials for schools around the world on the United Nations and global issues on its agenda. Part of these responsibilities include supervising the UN Cyberschoolbus which aims to involve teachers and students in finding solutions to global problems and provide a platform where they can exchange information and express opinions on global issues.

Prior to working at the UN, Mr. Yotive was a Director of Research at Sesame Workshop which produces educational television programmes for children, such as Sesame Street. He has designed and conducted many studies to evaluate the impact that these programmes have on the cognitive, social and emotional development of children.

Mr. Yotive gives talks to students from the primary school to university level on the history and structure of the United Nations as well as a general introduction to the principles that the UN was founded on. In addition, he speaks to students participating in Model UN programmes about how to prepare for conferences and gives briefings on UN priority topics linked to peace and security, human rights and development issues catering his remarks to the appropriate educational level of the audience. When speaking to teachers, Mr. Yotive provides an overview of educational resources on the United Nations and the social issues on its agenda that can be used in the classroom.

Rachel Bradford

Rachel Bradford has been attending MUN conferences for upwards of 10 years, starting in 2002. She recently graduated from Cornell University with her Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Law & Society. She has previously served on the Secretariat of Cornell's HS level conference the Cornell Model United Nations Conference (CMUNC), twice as Under Secretary General of Crisis committees and once as Conference

Development Executive. She also served on the founding secretariat of the Cornell International Affairs Conference (CIAC),Cornell's collegiate conference. Rachel has attended over 25 conferences and served on staff or secretariat for an additional 19 conferences. Outside of traditional MUN, Rachel also served as Chief of Staff for Team USA at the Youth G8+ in London during the summer of 2013.

Kerry Lanzo

In six years of Model United Nations, Kerry has risen from a thoroughly overwhelmed novice to award-winning collegiate delegate and MUN mentor. While at the George Washington University, she participated in the Colonial Cadets training program, participated in conferences across the country and the world at World Model United Nations Conferences in Vancouver, Canada and in Melbourne, Australia. Outside of her own delegate experiences, Kerry has immensely enjoyed teaching Model UN at local DC high schools and more recently with Best Delegate to impart her intense passion for Model UN and all that it can provide young students. Kerry is currently a student at the George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs pursuing a major in International Affairs, with concentrations in Security Policy and Europe/Eurasian Studies, and a second major in History. She spent Fall 2013 studying the European Union and NATO in Brussels, Belgium
Avik Chakravarty

Avik Chakravarty is currently a senior at the University of California, Berkeley. He began participating in Model United Nations from in his freshman year of high school, and upon entering university, he joined Berkeley Model United Nations (BMUN). Avik currently serves as Chief of Staff for BMUN. He has experience teaching MUN in the USA and abroad. He has staffed two Best Delegate Summer Camps in California, and has in the past coordinated BMUN outreach efforts to hold after-school training sessions for local high schools. He has also traveled to China, and taught MUN camps to Chinese high school students in over four Chinese cities. Avik currently sits on the Board of Directors for the United Nations Association—USA, East Bay Chapter, in which he helped to plan the Intergenerational Model United Nations Conference, an innovative MUN platform in which students and adults from various professional fields participate together.
Kelly Siegel-Stechler

Kelly Siegel-Stechler has participated in more than 30 Model UN Conferences as a delegate, secretariat member, and conference organizer. Kelly spent more than five years at UNA-USA's Global Classrooms program, where she oversaw more than half a dozen conferences annually, most notably the GC International Middle School conference which she grew from 800 to 1200 delegates in just two years, and the flagship GCIMUN conference, which hosted H.E. Ban Ki Moon each year during her tenure. She has extensive experience in managing international education programs with a focus on leadership development. Kelly is currently an independent Model UN and youth leadership education consultant, and is working on the CWMUN conference. She holds both a BA and MA in International Relations and Political Science from New York University.
Kareem Ascha

Kareem Ascha has attended over 25 MUN conferences in the past 8 years through high school and college. He is currently on his final year of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California Berkeley. After serving as Mission Viejo High School's Secretary-General in 2009, Kareem joined both MUN organizations at Berkeley, BMUN and UCBMUN. During his time with UCBMUN, Kareem oversaw the implementation of the UCBMUNC's first ever 3-way joint crisis simulation and standardized UCBMUN's crisis-training protocol. In BMUN, Kareem led several MUN Training Sessions at Bay Area high schools and served as Head Chair of the Big Oil committee at BMUN 61, which simulated the depletion of fossil fuels in the near future. This past August, Kareem was Secretary-General of the BMUN China conference at the WEMUN Expo. Most recently, he worked as an assistant trainer at the Best Delegate Olive Children Camp in Fremont.
Frances Lee

Frances Lee is currently a senior at National Taiwan University (NTU) in the Department of Business Administration. Frances began her MUN career with Junior MUN conferences in seventh grade. She is an active member of NTUMUN Society and was an officer her sophomore year. She received the Best Delegate Award at NMUN 2012 in New York and was selected as a Dais member at NMUN 2013 at the United Nations Headquarters General Assembly Plenary Session. Frances is currently the Secretary General of Pan Asia MUN (PAMUN) 2013 after having been a delegate of PAMUN 2010 and served on the Dais for PAMUN 2011 and 2012. She has been a delegate in over 20 conferences to date, from NHSMUN to WorldMUN. In addition, Frances has chaired at both the high school and university level in North America and Asia and was a guest speaker at Taiwan Model UN Development Association's Best Delegate Seminar.
Richard Pyo

Richard has attended a total of 26 conferences as a delegate and has served as chair or director for over 6 conferences. Richard has worked for the International Model United Nations Organization and has staffed for RHSMUN and NHSMUN. He is also currently part of the United Nations Association with the USA (UNAUSA) and has staffed the GC New York Conference for two years. Richard is a senior at USC and is a Cadet in the Air Force ROTC program studying to become an Intelligence Officer. Richard was the Co-Secretary General at Cerritos High School and received 8 Best Delegate awards during his tenure. Richard organized the GC LA Conference back when he was only a Junior in High School. He is now active in teaching MUN worldwide.
Mun Jeong Kim

Kim Mun Jeong attended around 10 MUN conferences in the past 5 years, from 2009. She is currently a student at Korea University majoring in English Language Education and Media Communication. She works as a senior reporter at The Granite Tower, KU's English newspaper and had continued her passion in MUN by working as a head chair and deputy secretary general in the past 2 conferences.

Gordon Tsai has attended over 10 MUN conferences in the past 4 years and has won awards at the city, state, and national level conferences. In high school, he was the President of William P. Clements High School Model UN Team which won Best Delegations at the two largest conferences in Texas during his senior year. As a first year student at University of Texas at Austin studying Petroleum Engineering, he is staffing the two largest conferences in the Texas Model UN circuit
Jelle Oldenhof

Jelle Oldenhof, a Political Science graduate at the Free University of Amsterdam, is currently undertaking an internship in the Political and Security Council Affairs department at European Union Delegation to the United Nations in New York. He drafts EU resolutions and statements, provides Brussels headquarters with updates on a daily basis, and supports policy officials at the department. Jelle was the keynote speaker at the MUN in Cluj-Napoca in Romania this year, participated in various MUN's in the Netherlands and followed MUN-workshops at the renowned Institute of Clingendael. Involved in the political and diplomatic spheres in the Netherlands, Jelle worked at the Ministries of Foreign- and Economic Affairs and regularly consulted with members of the House of Representatives of the Netherlands.
Erik Leiden

Since 2009, Erik Leiden has attended over 25 Model United Nations conferences around the United States as a delegate, chair, or Secretary General. He currently serves as the Head Delegate and Secretary General for the Ohio State University Collegiate Council on World Affairs (Model UN Club), and has planned and hosted 5 high school conferences (Ohio High School Model African Union I,II, and III and OSUMUN I and II) and 4 intercollegiate conferences (MUNCOS I, Ohio State Fall Conference I and II, and Ohio State Spring Conference II). He has served as Head Delegate for the Ohio State travelling team for 6 conferences and brought home the first ever awards for his university. He has helped start MUN teams at local high schools and worked to train them to be competitive on the national circuit. Erik is also a Media Associate for Model United Nations website, BestDelegate.com.
Sam Cho

Sam Cho possesses a breadth of experience in government and international relations having worked as a Program Analyst for the US Department of State and for The White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. He also served as an intern for the Economic Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Washington DC where he worked on the implementation of the Korea-US Free Trade Agreement. Sam graduated Cum Laude with a BA from American University in Washington DC and is currently a masters student at the London School of Economics (LSE) where he is pursuing a MSc in International Political Economy.
Milena Andreeva

Milena Andreeva is an active Bulgarian youth leader with broad experience in the field, including memberships in youth societies, debate championships, and numerous projects. Driven by a willingness to make a difference and recognizing the importance of effective diplomacy as means to provide a collaborative framework to engage, empower and educate youth, she became a Bulgarian youth delegate to the United Nations (2013-2014). Milena is an advocate for strengthening the platforms for intercultural dialogue and tolerance aiming at sustainable peace and social cohesion. After obtaining Master's degree at Korea University, Seoul and an internship at NATO, she is currently working at the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Bulgaria as military cooperation expert.
Brendan De Souza

Brendan De Souza, an experienced and passionate MUN participant, has attended 10 MUN conferences in the UK and North America since 2009, serving as a delegate, chair and Secretary General. He is a recent graduate of the University of Sheffield, having read for a postgraduate degree in International Studies. During this time he served as President of the renowned United Nations Association – University of Sheffield (UNA-UOS), expanding the group into a large, diverse and award winning society with an international reputation and delegations at conferences all over Europe and North America. Furthermore, as founder of the Sheffield Model United Nations conference in 2012, he was responsible for leading a team of over 20 staff at one of the UKs most successful inaugural conferences. Brendan has a long standing passion for diplomacy and intercultural communications and combines this with his passion for teaching on the subject of international relations.
Ja Young Lee

Ja Young is a undergraduate in Sogang University and studying International Relations in American University till this December as an exchange student. She has always been interested in advocating children's rights. She participated in various kinds of volunteering works related to children rights. As she worked with overseas NGOs, worked as a volunteer for International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People (ASSITEJ) and has studied in America to apply the notion of children rights at an international level, she cannot but keep her eyes on the recent situations children are going through. Currently, she is also interning at DC Mayor's office on Asian and Pacific Islanders' Affairs. As working as a medium between DC government and Asian community and dealing with life-related issues to improve the quality of life, the idea of making a better world has been deepened.
Do Hyun Park

Do Hyun Park is a student at Kyung Hee University majoring in International Studies. He has attended 5 MUN conferences and chaired at 3 of them. He has chaired at Yale MUN Korea, Global Classrooms: Seoul. This past summer, he also served as a Model UN trainer at the WFUNA Youth Camp. He puts his emphasis in the human power in MUN in terms of producing a fruitful resolution through amicable negotiation processes and socializing factor. He is also currently a media associate at the Best Delegate, world's leading Model UN resources and training education company.

Eui Yun Kim

Eui Yun Kim is WFUNA's Model UN and Education Officer, devising and implementing WFUNA's international Model UN program as well as facilitating youth initiatives in Korea. Eui Yun joined the WFUNA team in June 2012 as the Youth Program Associate for 2012-2013 where he implemented the Youth Seminar in New York and the WFUNA Global Youth Forum at WFUNA's 40th Plenary Assembly in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His ties with WFUNA started in 2009 as the youth representative for the Korean delegation at the 39th Plenary Meeting in Seoul. He was formerly a member of WFUNA's Youth Advisory Group and was heavily involved in WFUNA's youth programming in the past, including his national UNA and Model UN activities. Eui Yun holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Kyunghee University with a focus on International Law and regionalism.

Aaron J. Yoo is the Project Coordinator at the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA). Prior to joining team, he has been heavily involved with WFUNA's program in the Republic of Korea, actively promoting various projects specializing in youth education programs including Model UN Programs and Youth Empowerment Projects. He has interned for UNA-ROK for 6 months until he started his master's program on international relations in Seoul National University.
