제21기 유엔 전문가 교육 7-8일차 소식 알려드립니다.
귀국을 제외한 마지막 일정인 8월 10일에는 유엔 본부 전문가 교육 2세션과 팀 발표회를 진행하였습니다.
학생들은 아쉬운 마음으로 유엔 본부 마지막 스크리닝을 거쳤습니다. 그리고 IAEA의 Tracy Brown과 Vivian Okeke 강연자님을 통해 SDG 7에 대한 강연을 들었습니다. 특히 원자력에 대한 찬반 입장과 안전성, 효능에 대해 자세히 설명해주셨습니다. 학생들은 최고 전문가인 강연자에게 후쿠시마 원전 오염수 방류, 원자력 사고 등 평소에 궁금했던 질문을 할 수 있었습니다.
Hello. We would like to share updates from the seventh-eighth day of the 21st Training Program (TP) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
On August 10th, the last day of the program, students engaged in two expert education sessions at the UN Headquarters and concluded with team presentations.
Students went through the final screening at the UN Headquarters, and then attended a lecture by Tracy Brown and Vivian Okeke from International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), discussing SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy. The lecture particularly delved into the pros and cons of nuclear energy, its safety aspects, and its effectiveness. Students had the opportunity to pose questions to the esteemed expert on topics such as the Fukushima nuclear plant's contaminated water release and nuclear accidents.
다음으로는 UN DGC 소속 인턴인 Jack Meyer와 Peng Peng 강연자님이 커리어 강연을 진행해주셨습니다. 학생들과 가장 가까운 강연자인만큼, 졸업 후 유엔에서 인턴을 하게 된 계기, 앞으로의 비전 등에 대하여 솔직하고 편안하게 경험을 나누어주셨습니다. 학생들도 보다 자유롭고 다양한 질문을 남겼고 앞으로의 진로에 대해 고민해보는 시간을 가졌습니다.
Following this, Jack Meyer and Peng Peng, interns at UN DGC, delivered career lectures. Being closer in age to the students, they candidly shared their experiences regarding their journeys to becoming UN interns after graduation, their visions for the future, and other insights. Students posed a range of diverse questions and pondered their own career paths.
점심 식사 후에는 호텔에 복귀하여 Denis Godwin Antoine 전 그레나다 대사님과의 간담회를 진행했습니다. 학생들은 우천을 뚫고 약 4시간을 달려오신 대사님과 외교에 대한 자유로운 대화를 나누었습니다. 또한 대사님께서 집필하신 책의 번역본에 사인을 받고 개별적으로 네트워킹을 하는 사인회 시간도 가졌습니다.
After lunch, the group returned to the hotel for a meeting with Ambassador Denis Godwin Antoine, the Permanent Representative of Grenada to the UN. Despite the rain, the students engaged in free-flowing discussions about diplomacy and related topics with the Ambassador, who had traveled for about 4 hours to meet them. They also had the opportunity to receive signed copies of books authored by the Ambassador and engaged in individual networking sessions.
마지막으로 유엔 전문가 교육의 결과물인 팀 프레젠테이션 발표회를 진행했습니다. 바쁜 교육 일정 중에도 팀 별로 모여 열심히 준비한 시간이었습니다. 학생들은 팀별로 <Inflation: Social and Economic Influences>, <Sea Level Rise: Climate Action in Venice and Manhattan>, <Sustainable Human Rights_Strategies and Youth Actions>, <Children Impcted by Conflict>를 주제로 약 30분씩 발표했습니다. 교육 첫 날부터 맡은 주제를 발전시키고, 강연을 들으며 관련 질문을 하며 쌓아왔던 인사이트를 펼친 기회였습니다.

Lastly, the day concluded with team presentations showcasing the outcomes of the UN expert education. Despite the busy educational schedule, students had prepared diligently within their teams for this moment. Each team presented for about 30 minutes on topics like <Inflation: Social and Economic Influences>, <Sea Level Rise: Climate Action in Venice and Manhattan>, , and . This presentation offered them the chance to showcase the insights they had developed by evolving their topics, attending lectures, and asking pertinent questions since the first day of education.

7박 9일 간의 교육이 마무리되는 8월 11일에는 학생들이 아쉬운 마음으로 호텔을 떠났습니다. 그동안 정들었던 동기 청소년 대표단, 룸메이트, 팀메이트와 인사를 나누고 서로의 미래를 응원했습니다. 이후 한국으로 돌아갈 준비를 모두 마치고 공항으로 이동하였습니다. 8월 11일부터 12일까지의 비행 후 대표단 전원 건강히 귀국하였습니다.
이번 제21기 유엔 전문가 교육을 통해 학생들이 새로운 도전을 마주하고 꿈을 키웠길 진심으로 바랍니다. 또한 함께 만들어나간 시간을 통해 대표단의 미래에 빛을 더했길 기원합니다. 7박 9일 동안 서로를 배려하며 적극적으로 교육에 임해준 대표단 학생들에게 진심으로 감사의 말씀을 전합니다.
On August 11th, marking the end of the educational journey, students bid farewell to the hotel. During this time, they shared farewells with their fellow motivated youth representatives, roommates, and teammates, cheering for each other's futures. Following flights from August 11th to 12th, the entire delegation safely returned home in good health.
Through the 21st Training Program (TP) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, we sincerely hope that students have confronted new challenges and nurtured their dreams. Moreover, we wish that the time crafted together has illuminated the path for the delegation's future.
