교육 2일 차에는 기후변화와 안보가 교차하는 지점, 그리고 이를 지탱하는 글로벌 자원 거버넌스를 주제로, 국제사회가 직면한 구조적 과제를 다각도로 살펴보는 시간이 마련되었습니다. 도시, 안보, 자원이라는 서로 다른 영역이 어떻게 긴밀히 연결되어 있는지를 통해, 학생들은 지속가능한 발전을 위한 통합적 접근의 중요성을 이해할 수 있었습니다.
Day 2 | January 8
Mr. Luis Angel explained the role cities must play on the frontlines of climate change, focusing on SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and the New Urban Agenda. Through this session, students came to understand that climate action should not remain at the national level, but must be translated into concrete policies and actions at the city and community levels, prompting them to reflect deeply on the importance of local action.
국제 안보를 전공하신 유현승 담당관님께서는 SDG 16(평화, 정의, 강력한 제도)과 한반도 이슈를 중심으로, 국제 안보와 법치, 그리고 제도 구축의 중요성을 설명해 주셨습니다. 특히 북한의 불법 무기 거래 등 SDG 16 달성과 밀접하게 연관된 사례를 통해, 학생들이 SDG 16을 추상적인 개념이 아닌 현실적인 국제 정세와 정책의 맥락 속에서 이해할 수 있는 계기를 마련해 주셨습니다.
Mr. Yu, whose academic background is in international security, addressed the importance of international security, the rule of law, and institution-building, with a focus on SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) and issues surrounding the Korean Peninsula. By examining cases closely related to the achievement of SDG 16?such as North Korea’s illicit arms trading?he enabled students to understand SDG 16 not as an abstract concept, but within the real-world context of international security and policy dynamics.
Carine Valarche 연사님은 기후변화가 심화되는 시대에 물, 식량, 에너지 등 필수 자원을 정책적으로 어떻게 관리해야 하는지에 대해 강연해주셨습니다. 특히, 기후변화로 인해 필수 자원에 대한 접근이 어떻게 달라질 수 있는지, 자원의 불균형이 인간의 삶의 질과도 직접적으로 이어질 수 있다는 날카로운 문제의식은 학생들에게 깊은 인상을 남겼습니다.
Ms. Carine Valarche delivered a lecture on how essential resources?such as water, food, and energy?should be managed from a policy perspective in an era of intensifying climate change. She highlighted how climate change can alter access to these vital resources, and how resource imbalances can directly affect quality of life and contribute to broader instability, leaving a strong impression on the students.
김중현 협력관님은 전 세계 식량 안보와 영양 문제의 현주소를 짚으며, FAO가 수행하는 역할을 소개해주셨습니다. 학생들은 식량 문제가 단순한 ‘배고픔’의 문제가 아니라, 기후위기·분쟁·빈곤 등 구조적 요인과 긴밀히 얽혀 있는 복합적인 과제임을 이해할 수 있었습니다.
Mr. Kim outlined the current state of global food security and nutrition, while introducing the role and on-the-ground efforts of FAO in addressing these challenges. Through this session, students came to understand that food insecurity is not merely an issue of “hunger,” but a complex challenge closely intertwined with structural factors such as climate change, conflict, and poverty.
교육 2일 차는 도시, 안보, 자원이라는 서로 다른 주제가 하나의 흐름으로 연결되며, 지속가능한 발전을 위한 통합적 시각의 중요성을 확인하는 시간으로 마무리되었습니다. 학생들이 글로벌 이슈를 개별 사안이 아닌, 상호 연결된 구조 속에서 바라보는 관점을 확장할 수 있도록 함께해 주신 연사 분들께 모두 감사드립니다.
Day 2 concluded by bringing together the themes of cities, security, and resources into a coherent narrative, underscoring the importance of an integrated perspective on sustainable development.
