2024년 7월 31일, 제23기 유엔 전문가 교육 프로그램 2일차가 진행되었습니다. 오늘도 참가 학생들은 국제 사회가 직면한 다양한 글로벌 과제를 깊이 있게 탐구하며, 각국 전문가들과 실시간으로 소통하고 견문을 넓혀 나갔습니다. 특히 교육, 도시개발, 노동시장, 해양 회복력 등 다양한 SDGs 목표에 대한 실제 사례 중심의 강의가 이어졌습니다.
모든 세션에 적극적으로 참여해준 학생들과, 멀리 해외에서 온라인으로 연결해 귀중한 지식과 통찰을 나누어 주신 연사님들께 깊이 감사드립니다.
On July 31, 2024, the second day of the 23rd UN Expert Training Program was successfully held. Today’s sessions explored a wide range of global issues, including education disparities, sustainable urban development, labor rights, and ocean resilience?all closely linked to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Students actively engaged with speakers from around the world, deepening their knowledge through real-world case studies and lively Q&A sessions.
We would like to sincerely thank the speakers who joined from various countries and the students who participated with great enthusiasm.
세션 1 ? 개발도상국과 선진국의 교육 시스템 비교
연사: 정은희 대표 (IVECA)
한국에서 오랜 기간 초등 교사로 재직하신 정은희 대표님은 개발도상국(LDCs)과 선진국(MDCs)의 교육 현황, 과제, 자원 불균형, 교사 연수 체계의 차이 등을 구체적으로 분석해 주셨습니다.
특히 교육의 격차가 장기적으로 국가 경쟁력에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 조명하며, 교육의 질과 접근성 향상을 위한 다양한 정책적 접근 방식을 소개해 주셨습니다.
Drawing from her background as an elementary school teacher in Korea, Dr. Jung provided a comparative analysis of educational systems in Less Developed Countries (LDCs) and More Developed Countries (MDCs).
She discussed systemic inequalities in access to education, teacher training, and resource distribution, and explained how these challenges directly influence national development. Students gained new perspectives on global education gaps and potential policy approaches to address them.
세션 2 ? SDG 11: 멕시코 및 카리브해 지역의 도시 지속 가능성
연사: Luis Angel 전문관 (UN-HABITAT)
Luis Angel 전문관님은 UN-HABITAT의 멕시코 및 카리브 지역 사무소에서의 활동을 중심으로, 해당 지역 도시들이 직면한 주거 불균형, 교통 인프라 부족, 기후위기 대응 등의 문제를 소개해 주셨습니다.
한국과는 다른 도시 구조 및 정책 환경 속에서 SDG 11 ‘지속가능한 도시와 공동체’가 어떻게 적용되고 있는지 생생한 사례로 공유되며, 학생들은 글로벌 시각에서 도시개발의 다양성을 체험할 수 있었습니다.
Luis Angel shared his experiences working in the Mexico and Caribbean offices of UN-HABITAT, focusing on urban challenges such as housing inequality, transportation infrastructure, and climate resilience.
The session highlighted the diversity of urban development issues around the world and showed how SDG 11 is applied in unique regional contexts, broadening students’ global outlook on sustainable communities.
세션 3 ? SDG 8: 모두를 위한 양질의 일자리와 경제 성장
연사: Ingrid Christensen 소장, Gulmira Asanbaeva 전문가 외 (ILO 베트남 사무소)
ILO 베트남 사무소에서 근무 중인 국제노동기구(ILO)의 전문가들은 아시아 지역의 노동시장 현실을 바탕으로, 청년 고용 확대, 노동의 질 개선, 비공식 부문의 공식화 등 포괄적 노동시장 구축 방안을 심층적으로 논의하였습니다.
특히 실시간 채팅을 통해 학생들과의 쌍방향 소통이 활발하게 이루어졌고, “Are you worried about finding a job in the future?”라는 질문에 대부분의 학생들이 ‘Yes’라고 답하며, 현실적인 공감대가 형성되었습니다.
Representatives from the ILO Vietnam Office led an in-depth session on youth employment, fair labor markets, and inclusive economic growth.
The speakers emphasized the importance of formalizing informal sectors and promoting decent work opportunities for all. One particularly striking moment came during a live chat where students were asked, “Are you worried about finding a job in the future?”?most answered yes, opening up an honest conversation about job market concerns among youth.
세션 4 ? SDG 14: 해양 회복력을 위한 국제기구의 역할
연사: 손유미 전문관 (IUCN, 前 FAO)
FAO(유엔식량농업기구)에서의 풍부한 현장 경험을 바탕으로 현재 국제자연보전연맹(IUCN)에 재직 중인 손유미 선생님은, 해양 생태계 회복과 지속가능한 어업 관리를 중심으로 SDG 14의 이행 방안을 설명해 주셨습니다.
또한 근무 기관과 국가에 따라 달라지는 국제기구 직원의 역할과 정책 수행 방식에 대해서도 현실적인 조언을 아끼지 않으셨습니다.
Based on her extensive experience at the FAO and current role at the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Ms. Son discussed marine ecosystem protection, sustainable fisheries, and the practical implementation of SDG 14.
She also offered valuable career advice by illustrating how roles and responsibilities differ across international organizations depending on the region and institutional focus.
학생들은 각 세션에서 배운 내용을 바탕으로 질문과 의견을 활발히 나누며, ‘지속가능한 발전’이란 무엇인가에 대한 스스로의 관점을 확장해 나가고 있습니다.
내일도 다양한 기관 및 전문가와의 교류가 이어질 예정이며, 그 안에서 학생들의 잠재력이 더욱 빛나길 기대합니다.
Throughout the day, students showed great curiosity and engagement, expanding their understanding of what it means to pursue sustainable development in a global context.
