제21기 유엔 전문가 교육 5일차 소식 알려드립니다.
8월 8일에는 유엔 본부에서 전문가 강연 두 개를 들은 후 메트로폴리탄 박물관과 센트럴파크, 타임스퀘어를 방문했습니다.
조금은 익숙해진 스크리닝 후 강연실에 입장했습니다. 전날보다 날씨가 맑아 유엔 본부 입구에 국기들이 게양되어 학생들이 더욱 설레는 마음으로 입장하였습니다.
학생들은 먼저 Association of Formal International Civil Servants의 Donald Lee 강연자님의 SDG 1에 대한 강연을 들었습니다. UN DESA 국장을 역임하셨던 풍부한 경험을 바탕으로 절대적 빈곤, 상대적 빈곤, 빈곤에 대한 새로운 접근 등을 다뤄주셨습니다. 학생들은 연구의 최전선에 있는 강연자님의 시각을 더욱 집중하며 학습하였고 적극적으로 질문을 남겼습니다.

On August 8th, the students experienced two expert lectures at the UN Headquarters before visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Central Park, and Times Square.

The second lecture of the day was presented by Maren Andrea Jimenez from UN DESA, discussing SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities. It provided an opportunity to contemplate real-world inequalities within our society. Armed with detailed statistics, the students learned about different facets of inequality and enthusiastically questioned the speaker about their team's project-related topics.
이후 한국에서 절찬 인기인 파이브가이즈에서 현지 햄버거와 감자튀김을 맛보았습니다. 열띤 질의응답으로 지쳤던 몸과 마음을 정돈한 후, 뉴욕의 대표 관광지인 메트로폴리탄 박물관을 방문하였습니다. 보다 풍성한 박물관 견학이 되도록, 스태프가 사전에 메트로박물관 학습지를 제작하여 팀 미션을 진행하였습니다. 1조가 가장 먼저 사진 미션과 십자말풀이를 성공하여 이후 UN 텀블러를 수령하였습니다. 미션 이후에는 자유시간을 가지며 조금은 긴장했던 마음을 가라앉히고 예술작품을 관람하였습니다.
이후 바로 옆에 위치한 센트럴파크를 방문하여 녹음을 느끼며 산책 및 휴식하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 고된 강연과 발표회 준비 일정이었지만 뉴욕 속의 자연에서 힐링하고 다시금 의지를 다졌습니다.
After rejuvenating through the Q&A session, they visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a quintessential New York attraction. To enhance their museum experience, the staff had prepared a mission sheet using the Met learning guide. Team 1 successfully completed photo missions and crossword puzzles the fastest, earning UN tumblers. After the mission, they had some free time to explore and admire the artwork. Adjacent to the museum is Central Park, where they embraced nature, and relaxed under the watchful eyes of their supervisors.

Though the day might have been tiring, they approached team activities and the preparation of thank-you letters for the upcoming expert speakers with joy, before eventually settling down for a well-deserved rest.
