미래희망기구의 소식 입니다.
제19기 유엔 전문가 교육의 2일차 아침이 밝았습니다. 1일차의 열기를 이어받아, 오늘도 미래의 글로벌 리더를 꿈꾸는 19기 학생들의 배움에 대한 열정은 뜨거웠습니다. 알찬 강의를 준비해 주신 연사님들과 성실하게 참여해 준 모든 학생에게 감사의 마음을 전하며, 2일차의 주요 세션 내용을 소개합니다.
Day 2 of the 19th Training Program on the United Nations has begun. Building on the excitement of the first day, the passion of the 19th cohort aspiring to become future global leaders remained undiminished. We extend our gratitude to the speakers for their insightful lectures and to all the students for their diligent participation. Here are the highlights from Day 2.
Session 1. Climate Action: 기후 위기 대응과 리더십
강연: Esra Sergi Bertani (UN Secretary-General's Climate Action Team)
2일차의 첫 문은 유엔 사무총장 직속 기후대책팀(Climate Action Team)의 Esra Sergi Bertani 선생님께서 열어주셨습니다. 선생님께서는 미래 세대의 리더로서 학생들이 기후 변화 문제에 어떻게 접근해야 하는지, 그리고 기후 위기에 취약한 국가들을 돕기 위해 어떤 역할을 수행해야 하는지에 대해 제언해 주셨습니다. 환경 문제의 심각성을 인지하고 구체적인 행동 방안을 모색해보는 뜻깊은 시간이었습니다.
The first session of Day 2 was led by Ms. Esra Sergi Bertani from the UN Secretary-General's Climate Action Team. She discussed how students, as future global leaders, should approach the climate crisis and explored ways to alleviate the burden on developing countries that are most vulnerable to climate change. It was a session that reawakened our awareness of environmental issues and the need for action.
Session 2. Sustainable Urbanization: 지속 가능한 도시 계획
강연: Ana Sabrina Martinez Feria (UN-Habitat)
두 번째 강의는 유엔해비타트(UN-Habitat)의 도시 개발 전문가 Ana Sabrina Martinez Feria 선생님과 함께했습니다. 도시의 역사와 발전 과정, 오늘날 우리가 직면한 도시 문제, 그리고 이를 해결하기 위한 '지속 가능한 도시 계획의 5가지 원칙'에 대해 강연해 주셨습니다. 학생들은 배운 내용을 바탕으로 적극적으로 토의하며 미래의 지속 가능한 도시 모델을 직접 구상해보는 기회를 가졌습니다.
The second lecture was conducted by Ms. Ana Sabrina Martinez Feria, an urban development specialist at UN-Habitat. She explained the history of urbanization, current and future challenges, and the five principles of sustainable neighborhood planning. Students actively engaged in discussions and asked questions, concretely envisioning what a sustainable future city might look like.
Session 3. Understanding UN & SDGs: 유엔과 교육 불평등
강연: 이영진 (WFUNA, 유엔협회세계연맹)
세 번째 세션은 유엔협회세계연맹(WFUNA)의 이영진 선생님께서 맡아주셨습니다. 학생들은 유엔의 주요 기능과 6개 주요 기관의 역할, 그리고 SDGs(지속가능발전목표)의 도입 배경에 대해 체계적으로 학습했습니다. 특히 SDG 4번(양질의 교육)과 관련하여 전 세계적인 교육 불평등 문제를 심도 있게 다루며, 이를 해결하기 위한 국제사회의 노력에 대해 공부했습니다.
The third session was led by Mr. Youngjin Lee from the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA). Students gained a comprehensive understanding of the UN's functions, its six main organs, and the background of the SDGs. The session specifically focused on SDG 4 (Quality Education) and the mission to eradicate global education inequality.
Session 4. Climate Mobility: 기후변화와 인구 이동
강연: Carine Valarche (Green Climate Fund)
네 번째 강의는 녹색기후기금(Green Climate Fund)의 Carine Valarche 선생님께서 진행해 주셨습니다. 전 세계적으로 이상 기후가 빈번해지는 상황에서, 기후 변화가 인구 이동(Climate Mobility)에 미치는 영향에 대해 강조하셨습니다. '기후 아파르트헤이트(Climate Apartheid)'와 같은 새로운 개념과 기후 난민 문제 등을 다루며, 학생들이 이 문제를 완화하기 위해 할 수 있는 역할에 대해 논의했습니다.
The fourth lecture was delivered by Ms. Carine Valarche from the Green Climate Fund. Highlighting that extreme weather is becoming the new normal, she emphasized the concept of "Climate Mobility." She discussed critical issues such as weather-related displacement and "climate apartheid," guiding students on what can be done to alleviate the growing problem of climate-induced migration.
Session 5. Yale MUN Mentoring: 모의유엔과 예일대학교
강연: Monique Nikolov (Secretary-General of Yale International MUN)
다섯 번째는 예일대학교의 Monique Nikolov 선생님이 진행한 특별 세션이었습니다. 예일 국제 모의유엔(YIMUN) 의장으로서, MUN(모의유엔)이 무엇인지, 왜 참여해야 하는지, 그리고 대회를 위해 어떤 준비가 필요한지에 대한 실질적인 팁을 전수해 주셨습니다. 활발한 질의응답 시간을 통해 학생들은 MUN 준비 노하우뿐만 아니라 아이비리그 대학생으로서의 삶에 대해서도 엿볼 수 있었습니다.
The fifth session was a special mentoring session by Ms. Monique Nikolov from Yale University. As the Secretary-General of YIMUN, she introduced the significance of Model United Nations (MUN) and shared specific strategies on how to prepare for it. Through a lively Q&A session, students received useful tips for MUN preparation and took a fascinating glimpse into the life of a Yale University student.
Session 6. Public Diplomacy: 공공외교와 SDGs
강연: Rachel Naddeo (Tohoku University Ph.D. Candidate)
마지막 여섯 번째 세션은 공공외교를 연구하고 계신 Rachel Naddeo 선생님께서 진행해 주셨습니다. 민간 분야에서 공공외교가 갖는 중요성과 이것이 각국의 정책 결정 및 SDGs 달성에 미치는 영향에 대해 다루었습니다. 흥미롭고 구체적인 사례들을 통해 다소 생소할 수 있는 공공외교의 개념을 학생들이 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 설명해 주셨습니다.
The final session of the day was conducted by Ms. Rachel Naddeo. Students learned about the pivotal role of public diplomacy in the private sector and its impact on achieving the SDGs. Through interesting and specific examples, she clarified how public diplomacy influences national policies and contributes to global goals.
이렇게 2일차 교육도 성공적으로 마무리되었습니다. 빡빡한 일정 속에서도 지치지 않고 열의를 보여준 학생들에게 다시 한번 박수를 보냅니다. 내일 이어질 3일차 교육과 활동에도 많은 관심과 기대 부탁드립니다.
