On July 19, 2021, the volunteer supplies from Hankuk Academy of Foreign Studies have arrived.

As part of the #HopePlus campaign whose mission aligns with the United Nations, a Youth Representative Chaerin Park, has led the Greenlight Education Session along with Hope to the Future Association.

To initiate the Hope Plus Greenlight Campaign, Youth Representative Chaerin Park has conducted and promoted a funding project to collect and support the costs of purchasing the solar panels, PCB circuit boards, and batteries used to make the lanterns.

The Greenlight lanterns prepare youths with the basic necessities of an educational environment that ensures their wellbeing: economic stability and the extension of time to read and learn. Further, as part of the Global Citizenship Education, the youth volunteers were educated with multimedia contents to empower themselves as learners and to understand the global, not local issues. The education session aims to instill in learners the values, attitudes, and behaviors that support responsible global citizenship, and the students actively participated in the campaign, by sharing their experiences across social platforms.

The virtual education session included the ‘Current Status in the Third World,’ ‘Significance of Greenlight,’ ‘Access to Electricity in South Sudan,’ and she emphasized the importance of youth cooperation and involvement in youth volunteering. According to Chaerin, she aims the “Hope Plus Greenlight Campaign” to take a multidimensional approach to the issues of households in the global South.

7월 19일, 용인한국외국어대학교부설고등학교에서 진행한 희망 전등 그린라이트 봉사물품이 도착하였습니다. 유엔의 아젠다를 지원하고 청소년 교육을 목적으로 한 #HopePlus 캠페인의 일환으로 진행되었던 본 봉사활동은 (사)미래희망기구의 유엔 공보국 청소년 대표인 박채린 학생에 의해 기획 및 진행되었습니다.

‘희망전등 그린라이트 캠페인’은 네이버 해피빈 모금함에 후원 및 기부를 진행해주신 203명의 익명의 후원자와 각 학교 및 기관의 학생들이 연간 약 5300여 명이 참여한 활동으로 시작하였습니다. 전기 공급이 원활하지 못한 남수단 공화국을 비롯한 아시아 및 아프리카 빈곤국가에 3년 이상 지속 가능한 휴대용 랜턴을 지원하는 본 활동은, 국내 청소년들이 제3세계 이해교육을 이수할 수 있도록 독려합니다.
