미래희망기구의 소식 입니다.
어느덧 제12기 유엔 전문가 교육 한국 대표단의 뉴욕 유엔 본부 교육 3일차(Day 6)가 시작되었습니다 (2018년 8월 3일 ~ 8월 13일 일정 중).
이날 학생들은 아시아 외교의 중요성을 배우고, 이주, 젠더 평등, 그리고 대테러 활동 등 국제 사회의 가장 첨예한 이슈들을 다루는 심화 강연에 참석했습니다.

Day 6 marked the third day of the 12th UN Expert Training Program at the UN Headquarters in New York. The students attended advanced lectures covering critical global issues such as Asian diplomacy, migration, gender equality, and counter-terrorism.
Special Diplomacy Session: Meeting at the Permanent Mission of Japan to the UN
어제 주유엔우간다대표부 방문에 이어, 두 번째 외교 특별 세션으로 주유엔일본대표부 방문 및 외교관과의 간담회가 진행되었습니다. 본 세션은 주유엔일본대표부에서 근무하고 계시는 Kosuke Amiya 외교관님께서 진행해 주셨습니다. 아시아 청소년 대표단 중 주유엔일본대표부에 방문하여 간담회에 참석한 경우는 이번이 처음이라 더욱 특별했습니다.
Following the previous day's visit to the Ugandan Mission, the second special diplomacy session was held at the Permanent Mission of Japan to the UN. The session was led by diplomat Mr. Kosuke Amiya. This visit was especially significant as the Hope to the Future Association delegation was the first group of Asian youth to attend a briefing and discussion at the Permanent Mission of Japan to the UN.
Ambassador Cho Chang-beom (HFA Advisor), who accompanied the delegation throughout the program, offered encouraging remarks regarding the improvement of Korea-Japan relations and the role of future youth leaders.
간담회 후에는 감사의 뜻으로 정진환 이사장님께서 Amiya 외교관님께 희망나눔 운동화를 전달하는 시간을 가졌습니다.

UN Migration Agency (IOM): Focusing on Migration and Refugee Issues
점심식사 후 진행된 두 번째 세션은 유엔이주기구(IOM)에서 Board of Directors로 근무하고 계시는 Tolu Oluoumni 님께서 Migration(이주)를 주제로 강연을 진행해주셨습니다. 최근 국내에서 이주 및 난민 관련 이슈가 화두가 되고 있는 만큼, 대표단 학생들은 그 어느 때보다 적극적으로 질문하며 국제 이주 문제에 대한 이해를 넓혔습니다.
The second session, held after lunch, featured a lecture on Migration by Mr. Tolu Oluoumni, a Board of Directors member at the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
As migration and refugee issues were highly relevant domestic topics, the student delegates were particularly active in their questioning, broadening their understanding of the complexities of international migration.
UN Women: Realizing Gender Equality
세 번째 세션으로는 유엔여성기구(UN Women)에서 Spanish Communications and Media Officer로 근무하고 계시는 Sharon Grobeisen 님께서 Gender Equality (젠더 평등)를 주제로 강연을 진행해주셨습니다. 유엔여성기구의 활동을 통해 학생들은 SDG 5(젠더 평등)의 중요성과 실천 방안을 배웠습니다.
하나고등학교에 재학 중인 이상진 학생이 대표로 감사 레터장을 강연자에게 전달하며 감사의 마음을 표했습니다.
The third session was a lecture on Gender Equality by Ms. Sharon Grobeisen, a Spanish Communications and Media Officer at UN Women. Through learning about UN Women’s work, students gained insight into the importance and practical implementation of SDG 5 (Gender Equality).
Student Lee Sang-jin (Hana Academy) presented the lecturer with a thank-you letter on behalf of the delegation, expressing their gratitude.
UN Counter-Terrorism Office (CTED): The Threat of Online Terrorism
유엔 교육 3일차의 마지막 세션은 유엔대테러사무국(CTED)에서 UN Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate로 근무하고 계신 Mattias Sundholm 님께서 강연을 해주셨습니다.
선생님은 최근 IS를 포함하여 국제 사회 평화를 위협하는 테러 단체들이 늘어났으며, 디지털 혁명 이후 발생되고 있는 온라인 테러에 관하여 상세한 설명을 해주셨습니다. 학생들은 국제 평화 유지라는 유엔의 핵심 임무에 대해 현실적인 인식을 가질 수 있었습니다.
The final session of Day 3 was a lecture by Mr. Mattias Sundholm, who works for the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED).
Mr. Sundholm provided detailed explanations regarding the rise of terrorist groups threatening global peace, including IS, and specifically addressed the growing issue of online terrorism following the digital revolution. This provided students with a realistic perspective on the UN's core mission of maintaining international peace and security.
유엔 교육 4일차인 내일(Day 7)은 주유엔대한민국대표부 탐방 및 박철주 차석대사님과의 간담회가 진행되고, 조창범 대사님께서 진행하시는 '대한민국 외교와 유엔' 특별 세션이 진행될 예정입니다. 모든 세션에 적극적이고 열정적인 자세로 임해준 대표단 여러분께 다시 한번 감사의 말씀을 전합니다.
Tomorrow (Day 7), the final day of UN lectures, will feature a visit to the Permanent Mission of the ROK to the UN and a meeting with Deputy Ambassador Park Chul-soo, followed by a special session on 'ROK Diplomacy and the UN' by Ambassador Cho Chang-beom. We thank the delegates once again for their active and passionate participation in all sessions.
