제12기 유엔 전문가 교육 한국 대표단의 뉴욕 일정 넷째 날(Day 4)이 밝았으며, 드디어 유엔 본부(UN Headquarters)에서 본격적인 교육이 시작되었습니다. 학생들은 맛있는 조식을 먹은 후, 유엔 전문가 교육을 받기 앞서 다 함께 유엔 본부 앞에서 기념 촬영을 하며 설레는 마음을 안고 첫날 일정을 시작했습니다.

Day 4 marked the start of the official training sessions at the UN Headquarters in New York. After breakfast, the students gathered for a commemorative photo in front of the UN building before commencing their first full day of expert lectures.

Lectures on Human Rights and the SDGs

1. 인권 (Human Rights)

강연자: Nenad Vasic (유엔 인권최고대표사무소, OHCHR)

본 프로그램의 첫 주제인 인권(Human Rights)에 대해 유엔 인권최고대표사무소(OHCHR)에서 오신 Nenad Vasic 님께서 강연을 진행해 주셨습니다. 학생들은 인권의 보편적 가치와 유엔 OHCHR의 역할에 대해 배우며, 국제 인권 문제에 대한 인식을 넓혔습니다.

Speaker: Mr. Nenad Vasic (Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, OHCHR)

The program's first core topic, Human Rights, was presented by Mr. Nenad Vasic from the OHCHR. Students learned about the universal values of human rights and the critical role of the OHCHR in promoting and protecting them globally.

2. 지속가능발전목표 (SDGs)

강연자: Melanie Prud'Homme (유엔 Communication Specialist)

다음으로 두 번째 세션인 지속가능발전목표(SDGs)에 대해 유엔에서 Communication Specialist로 일하시는 Melanie Prud'Homme 님께 강연을 들었습니다.

강연을 통해 학생들은 17가지 목표의 중요성과 이를 달성하기 위한 유엔의 커뮤니케이션 전략에 대해 이해할 수 있었습니다.

The second session focused on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), lectured by Ms. Melanie Prud'Homme. Students gained a deeper understanding of the importance of the 17 Goals and the UN's communication strategies aimed at achieving them by 2030.

강연 이후, 학생들은 두 개의 조로 나뉘어 유엔 본부 근처에서 점심 식사를 하였습니다.

Following the lectures, the students were divided into two groups for lunch near the UN Headquarters.

UN Headquarters Tour and Evening Study

1. 유엔 본부 탐방 (UN Headquarters Tour)

오후에는 5일간 교육을 받게 될 뉴욕 유엔 본부를 탐방하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 학생들은 총회장(General Assembly Hall), UN 역사관, 그리고 SDGs 전시관을 둘러보며 유엔의 상징적인 공간들을 체험하고 역사적 배경과 현재의 미션에 대해 더욱 생생하게 학습했습니다.

UN Headquarters Tour In the afternoon, the delegation took a tour of the New York UN Headquarters. Students explored symbolic spaces, including the General Assembly Hall, the UN History Museum, and the SDGs Exhibition Hall, gaining a tangible sense of the UN's historical context and current global mission.

2. 저녁 식사 및 학습 시간

모든 공식 일정을 마치고, 학생들은 Carrabba's Italian Grill에서 저녁 식사를 하였습니다. 저녁 식사 후, 학생들은 숙소로 돌아와 유엔 본부 결과보고서 작성 및 다음날 진행될 유엔 전문가 교육 주제에 대한 예습을 하는 시간을 가졌습니다.

Dinner and Study Session After all activities, the students had dinner at Carrabba's Italian Grill. Upon returning to their accommodation, they dedicated time to drafting their UN Headquarters reports and preparing for the next day's expert lecture topics.

모든 일정이 마치고, 학생들은 Carrabba's Italian Grill에서 저녁식사를 하였습니다.

유엔 본부 교육 둘째 날인 내일(Day 5)은 주유엔 우간다 대사관 방문 특강 세션과 함께 UN Career, Sustainable Development, Peacekeeping에 대한 강연이 진행될 예정입니다. 한국 대표단 학생들에게 많은 응원과 격려 부탁드립니다.

Tomorrow (Day 5), the second day of the UN Headquarters training, will include a special lecture session at the Permanent Mission of Uganda to the UN, followed by lectures on UN Career, Sustainable Development, and Peacekeeping.
