Hope to the Future Association ran a booth from May 30th to June 1st, 2016 at 66th UN DPI/NGO Conference in Hwabaek International Convention Center, Kyungju.
At the booth, a book of United Nations named “Action for Disarmament: 10 Things You Can Do” was on a promotion. After the publishing contract (No. PB/CON201/03) in August, 2014, it was published domestically in Korean in March, 2016.
Artworks called “World Hope Project” was shown at the booth. They were painted and designed by Korean students who cooperated under various current global issues, such as peace, education, environment, climate, human rights, and refugees. These pieces were sent to international organizations, local governments, and nations in the Third World like Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Tanzania with hopeful messages.
During the exhibition, Ki-moon Ban, the Secretary-General of the United Nations visited the booth. He encouraged every participants after hearing purpose and worth of the project.
Soo-gil Park served as an ambassador of South Korea’s representative to the United Nations, South Korea’s chief delegate of the United Nations Security Council, and also President of the United Nations Security Council. Chang-beom Cho served as a charge d'affaires of South Korea’s representative to the United Nations, a Director-General for Political Affairs from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the ambassador to Australia.
Students fully explained the book and “World Hope Project” works to all the parties concerned at the booth.
At the dinner, Mr. Park, Mr. Cho and Mr. Golmonammadi were gathered to encourage students by answering all questions they gave.
On the morning of May 31th, the second day of the conference, students joined the WFUNA Workshop under the theme of Cross Sector Partnership for Global Citizenship Education. They wrote reports after listening presentations by speakers from APCEIU, KOICA ODA Education Center, HappyBean, and Music for One Foundation.
In the afternoon, Yeonjae Lee from Hankuk Academy of Foreign Studies and Sejung Choi from Hope to the Future Association gave an interview on World Hope Progect at PDN (Pacific Daily News), China.
